ABOUT THE GAMETHE STANLEY PARABLE is an interactive game designed and written by developers Davey Wreden and William Pugh. The game carries themes such as choice in video games, the relationship between a game creator and player and predestination/fate.The player guides a silent protagonist named Stanley alongside narration by British actor Kevan Brighting. As the story progresses, the player is confronted with diverging pathways. The player may contradict the narrator's directions, which if disobeyed will then be incorporated into the story. Depending on the choices made, the player will encounter different endings before the game restarts to the beginning.ABOUT THE BOOKFor my final illustration project I've adapted THE STANLEY PARABLE into a fully illustrated storybook. The book features an original story I wrote with references and visuals from the game itself. I wanted to portray how alone Stanley is in the office where his coworkers have mysteriously disappeared.For the writing, I was inspired by classic children’s books that were written specifically with rhymes. I thought it would be fun to put a twist in it where the narrator drops the facade abruptly as soon as Stanley disobeys him, ultimately breaking the narrative.The ending page where it resets is part of the game. Stanley ends up back at the start whenever the reader opens up the book once more; a nod to his fate of being trapped within the parable.

To prepare for this project, I created a moodboard to express the elegance and luxury for the Mercedes-Benz line. A sophisticated and modern font was used to mirror the brand, alongside sleek black high tech visuals.I assembled photographs, videos and visual effects into a visually stunning sequence that showcases the best that the Mercedes-Benz service center could offer.
